LAFF

In December 2005 Trasta komercbanka entered the Latvian-American Financial Forum (LAFF). Alongside Trasta komercbanka were four other Latvian banks – Aizkraukles banka, Paritate Bank, Reģionālā investīciju banka and Baltic International Bank.

As the organization name states, we take an active part in making business contacts between Latvia and the USA, and also to strengthen our country’s position as a financial centre for the Baltic. We understand that the trend to explore more new foreign markets is important for our clients. Participation in LAFF gives us an opportunity to work to strengthen international competitiveness and expand our client’s possibilities outside Latvia.

In the future Trasta komercbanka, together with other banks, will take an active part in financial forum activity to create a social-political and research centre. This centre will organize discussions and seminars; collaborate with state organizations, journalists, politicians, businessmen and representatives of other non-state organizations.

At the LAFF headquarters, Igor Buymister, Trasta komercbanka Council president, represents our bank. The Fund is supervised Aivis Ronis, former ambassador in NATO and USA.

With the help of this forum we want to enable a strong position for Latvian businessmen in the international market and to contribute to the economic development of the country in general. We are also planning to help with the development of a partnership with USA financial market participants and influence the country’s support for private business. We are sure that dynamic financial service development will help us realize our dream of Latvia as a modern European country with proficient, effective and competitive economic systems.
