The history of "Trasta komercbankas" is closely connected to the development of security market in Latvia. The Bank has been offering services in the Baltic securities market since 1997. "Trasta komercbanka" became a member of Latvian Central Depository in 1997. TKB was the first Latvian bank which commenced organising of public share issues of Latvian companies.
TKB membership on the OMX Baltic Stock Exchanges is a strategic step, determined by the development plans of the Bank with regard to the Baltic securities market where trading activities has been continuously increasing. The membership on the OMX Baltic Stock Exchange will enable the Bank to extend investment services and improve cooperation with its clients giving immediate reply to their requests. "Trasta komercbanka” will trade on the OMX Baltic Stock Exchange under the trading code TKB.
The stock exchage NASDAQ OMX Riga is the only regulated secondary securities market in Latvia. The NASDAQ OMX Riga is a 100% owner of the Latvian Central Depository. The Stock Exchange and the Depository provide market participants with the necessary environment for carrying out transactions with securities, clearing and settlement of securities transactions, listing of securities, operating of central public securities register and for maintaining of the state funded pension register in Latvia.
The Riga Stock Exchange is a part of NASDAQ OMX Nordic Exchange which was founded by NASDAQ OMX Group. The NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. is the largest exchange company in the world. The NASDAQ OMX Nordic Exchange embraces the Nordic and Baltic securities markets and consists of the exchanges of Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, Iceland, Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius. Therefore, NASDAQ OMX offers access to about 80% of the Nordic and Baltic securities markets. |
